Lone Tree, CO – March 21, 2013 – Over the past several months, hundreds of IT professionals from around the world have been engaged in the SMB 150 Channel Influencers contest. The SMB 150, which is a collaboration between SMB Nation and SMB Technology Network, is the SMB technology channel’s annual list of its 150 most influential members.

On Friday, March 8, 2013, Vince Tinnirello, CEO of Anchor Network Solutions, was named to the SMB 150 Channel Influencers List. Tinnirello joins a group of esteemed colleagues who were chosen during a two-phase voting process. In the initial stage, channel community members voted on 450 nominees at SMB150.com. Following the community vote, a panel of industry experts consisting of Harry Brelsford, (SMB Nation); Karl Palachuk, (Great Little Book Publishing Co., Inc.); Josh Peterson, (MSP Score); Dave Seibert, (IT Innovators); and Dan Wensley, (Level Platforms), evaluated each nominee based on a pre-established rubric. The community vote accounted for 40% of each nominee’s overall rating, with the expert panel’s decision contributing the remaining 60%.

“I’m thrilled to be in the company of such well-respected professionals. Building Anchor has been very challenging and rewarding. I’m thankful to my colleagues, partners, and clients for recognizing the success of Anchor along with everyone involved with making it what it is today,” said Tinnirello. “I’ve enjoyed learning from colleagues and peers over the years and have been working to pay it forward and share what I’ve learned with others in our community.”

Tinnirello and his/her fellow SMB 150 influencers are invited to attend the SMB 150 Awards Gala on May 4, 2013, during SMB Nation’s Spring Conference at the Microsoft Conference Center in Redmond, WA. The event is hosted by SMB Nation and SMB Technology Network and sponsored by BlackBerry. Each SMB 150 winner will receive a personalized award plaque, recognition in the SMB Nation magazine and other media outlets, and a new BlackBerry Z10 device.

“I encourage everyone in the SMB channel community to join with me in recognizing and celebrating the winners of this year’s SMB 150,” said Harry Brelsford, Founder and Chairman, SMB Nation. “Each individual whose name appears on this esteemed list has strived to ensure that our SMB community is one that will continue to thrive and succeed. I am beyond excited to toast them at the awards dinner on May 4 in Redmond.”

Up this month: Metro West Housing Solutions.

Located at 575 Union Blvd, Suite 100 Lakewood, CO 80228, Metro West Housing Solutions is a non-profit property developer, manager, and human services provider. Metro West Housing Solutions’ staff of 54 owns and manages apartments in Lakewood and Denver, provides Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers to eligible Lakewood residents, and facilitates a wide range of human services for clients.

We thank Kim Buehler, Chief Administrative Officer of Metro West Housing Solutions for her responses to the following questions:

Q. What brought you to your current role with Metro West Housing Solutions?

KB: After 20 years of managing human services for the City of Lakewood, the Housing Authority made the decision to become a stand-alone agency and no longer under the umbrella of the City of Lakewood. Metro West Housing Solutions needed someone to handle the administrative functions including employee relations, payroll, risk management, purchasing, etc. and the Executive Director asked me to make the move to the “new” agency. I said yes and the rest of is history.

Q. What are some of the daily business challenges you face?

KB: Every day is new and interesting. We are never sure when a client will call with a concern, a resource we have never encountered is needed, a personnel issue may arise or there’s a hail storm and we have to figure out how to quickly replace 10 roofs damaged by the storm. The challenges keep our jobs interesting and allow each of us to creatively solve problems and grow with each decision that is made.

Q. What service do you provide that no other organization provides? (i.e. what makes your organization unique?)

KB: Metro West Housing Solutions is unique in our culture and quality customer service. There are many other Housing Authorities, but we take pride in our quality staff, values, and ability to provide quality housing to those we serve. Metro West Housing Solutions is “more than a roof”.

Q. What’s a success story for Metro West Housing Solutions?

KB: Our success is built around our clients. By assisting families with housing, they are able to maintain jobs, better provide for their families and further they education. As they do these things, they are able to move off housing assistance and become self-sufficient and contributing members of our community. Many of our activities, from development, educating staff and clients on being green, providing resident services and managing affordable housing provide members of our community with the tools they need to transform their lives.

Q. What do you do when you aren’t working?

KB: With two kids in college, it seems that we are always on the road to watch a performance or deliver something needed or forgotten at home. It’s nice that both kids chose colleges close enough to home that it allows us to do these things. Otherwise, I’m still a volunteer for Girl Scouts, coaching and mentoring young ladies through their Gold Awards, the highest award in Girl Scouts.

Q. Metro West Housing Solutions have been using Anchor’s services since 2009. Why is the relationship crucial in the running of your day-to-day business?

KB: Anchor manages the IT for our agency. Anchor is crucial to our business because so much of what we do is through technology. The knowledge that our server is taken care of and running efficiently saves me from worrying about whether or not we are able to do business. The best part is the relationship. Anchor knows our business needs and proactively addresses them. The staff at Anchor also know us as individuals. With Anchor, it’s not a business relationship, but rather a personal relationship that they work hard to maintain.

First Up: AmCheck Payroll Services

Located at 3401 Quebec Street #8000, Denver, CO 80207, AmCheck provides employers with a comprehensive single source for Payroll Services, Human Resources Management, Benefit Procurement and Administration Services along with Worker’s Comp Insurance.

We thank Jim Gosselin, Managing Partner of Amcheck Payroll Services for his responses to the following questions:

Q. What brought you to your current role with AmCheck Payroll Services?

JG: It was blind luck.  I met Dean and Brad, our founding partners through a friend.  I had some money that I was either going to cash out and travel, or I was going to invest it in doing something for myself after a career in corporate America.  The investment paid off…

Q. What are some of the daily business challenges you face?

JG: Well, thanks to Anchor, IT is NOT one of them!  We don’t have many daily challenges after 12 years in business.  We try to create an exceptional client interaction in everything we do.  This is something we have worked very hard on over the past few years, and is something we continue to work on daily.  We try to keep things fun and interesting for our staff.  Great communication is something that can be a daily challenge but is mandatory.

Q. As a leading provider of payroll services, what makes AmCheck stand out from the rest of the competition?

JG: Straight from our marketing material…Customization – Convenience – Customer Service.  We customize our service offering with the specific needs of each of our clients.  We have a menu of services that clients can pick and choose from for where they need help.  We try to re-create as little as possible and will work with clients in their format vs. trying to mold them to ours.  It has to be convenient for clients.  I touched on it in the previous question but customer service is everything!  Especially, when we are dealing with people’s money handling payroll and taxes.  With something as important as this, client’s need to know they can count on someone.  We have dedicated customer service people and clients are not just another number in our company.  We get to know our clients and anticipate their needs.  We try to be a partner for them and not just a vendor.

Q. What’s an ideal client for AmCheck?

JG: An ideal client is someone that packages multiple services with us.  We focus on businesses with 25-500 employees but, we will also handle smaller business as well and payroll only if that’s what makes sense for the client.  We want to show clients other alternatives to outsourcing, and how we can streamline their Human Resources and the administrative burden of having employees.

Q. What do you do when you aren’t working?

JG: My wife and 2 kids keep me pretty busy.  Just like most Coloradans I chose to live in Denver because there is so much to do.  I love to catch just about any sporting event with friends.  I Golf, Snowboard, Wakeboard and enjoy lots of other activities with my family.

Q. AmCheck has been using Anchor’s services for more than 8 years now, why is the relationship crucial in the running of your day-to-day business?

JG: Because IT services are probably one of the most important aspects of our business.  It is also important to us, to do business with people who share the same business philosophies as we do.  Anchor gets it.  We expect a very high level of service and demand that our vendors think about the things that we do not.  We have done a couple of office moves, server upgrades and constant improvement to our software, backups, and a whole bunch of other stuff I won’t pretend to understand.  Any time we have ever done anything IT related it goes off without issues.  Anchor is very methodical about pre-planning and ensuring potential issues are considered.  They are very good about keeping us up to date with latest trends and things we should be doing to stay current.  IT is one of the things I worry least about in our business.  This is due to our confidence in Anchor and the ongoing service they provide.

Q. Now it’s your turn to ask Anchor a question:

JG: Seriously, how many ski days does Vince have this season?

Vince Tinnirello of Anchor Network Solutions, Inc. has been named as the ActionCOACH “Client of the Year”. His willingness to embrace and implement strategic ideas and change has always been at a tenfold level. Vince spent time planning, strategizing and ultimately taking his business to new heights this year. He added to his role of successful business owner and became a master entrepreneur.

With this came a substantial investment in a new identity campaign, outreach marketing, and a defined sales process. Vince never took his “eye off the ball” of customer service and he has the client retention rates to prove it. Anchor clients are RAVING FANS!!

Vince maintains the ActionCOACH vision of a healthy balance of work and life. He takes time off to ski, golf, travel, climb fourteeners, and spend quality time with his family while attending conferences to learn more about his business. Vince has been asked by his peers to speak at conferences this year, to share his vision and and influence others.

Vince’s thirst for knowledge and his willingness to step outside of his comfort zone to grow his business has led him to tremendous success. Vince Tinnirello was named to the Industry “SMB 150″ and “MSPMentor 250″ Lists.
